Halifax, NS - Atlantic Digital Networks announced today the launch of ToonAVision, a free cable TV service and the only kids and family channel broadcasting nationally from Atlantic Canada. ToonAVision is available in select markets across Canada on Eastlink, channel 749.
“We are excited and very proud to bring ToonAVision to Canadians,” said Adam Mimnagh, Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Digital Networks. “ToonAVision is the only channel broadcasting from the Atlantic Provinces. Its programming includes many popular children and family shows, but it also showcases local content and gives talented local animators the opportunity to show their work to a national audience.”
This new service, developed in conjunction with Huminah Huminah Animation, offers high quality animated and live-action kids and family entertainment. The broadcast feed is available for free to subscribers on Eastlink cable systems, channel 749. More cable and satellite systems are scheduled to be added in the near future.
“Our goal is to bring quality and fun entertainment to Canadian families, but ToonAVision so much more,” said Mimnagh. “ToonAVision is a testament to the great work and talented people we have right here in the Atlantic Provinces.“
ToonAVision's programming includes branded shows such as BatPat, Monster High, Stan Lee’s Mighty 7, SpacePOP, and the hit Canadian comedy series Chilly Beach. It also showcases Canadian titles such as I am a Dinosaur, Yam Roll and Maple Shorts. The ToonAVision Movie Hour broadcasts every Saturday and Sunday, playing movies from the Mattel library such as Barbie, Max Steele, Ever After High, and more.
“In a market where other channel slates are full, and they are struggling to provide new content, ToonAVision will deliver a revolving schedule of fresh new shows from Canadian and global producers,” said Mimnagh. “We can't wait to show Canadians all we have to offer!””
To celebrate the channel's launch, ToonAVision is hosting an underwater themed drawing and colouring contest for kids (ages 4-11) living in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. The ToonAVision Colouring & Drawing Contest will run 4 weekly competitions through the month of October with prizes that include a pizza party, a Halifax Hurricane's Hoops Party, an Ipad, and a Family VIP pack to the Chronicle Herald's Holiday Parade of Lights.
